DETERMINANT PARTS OF A SENTENCE IN THE NOVEL OF V. SHKLIAR «ZALYSHENETS. CHORNYI VORON»

Abstract

The analysis of logical semantic level of sentence structure aimed not only on its connection with real situations and its different categories representation but also on the relations that occur between lexical components within a syntactic unit is increasingly used by linguists in the study of the Ukrainian language grammatical system, it allows you to track the patterns of semantic sphere of language and some specific peculiarities which make it the main instrument of cognition and communication.While studying the sentence syntactic structure in modern Ukrainian literary language we drew our attention to the specific communicative meaningful components that are not subject to individual part of a sentence but belong to the entire sentence taking part in its content creation. In linguistics independent semantic extenders of different syntactic structures are considered to be qualified as determinant units. The purpose of this research is analyzing structural and functional peculiarities of determinant parts of a sentence in the early XXI century Ukrainian literary language. The research objectives are to define the term «determination» and to determine the place of determinant parts of a sentence in the contemporary Ukrainian literary language; to consider semantic and morphological features of determinant elements in the syntactic microsystem of V. Shkliar «Zalyshenets. Chornyi voron», to describe their stylistic functions.On analyzing the syntactic novel microsystem V. Shkliar «Zalyshenets. Chornyi voron» we noticed that the constructions used by the writer are semantically meaningful and syntactically copious. Even simple in structure (mononuclear or two-member) or simple expanded sentences in the author’s works are usually semantically complicated or even complex. Those are the ones which become the source for the study of the determination phenomenon as a kind of peculiar process that helps transform a semantically elementary utterance into a semantically complex one. Subjective – objective (monoseme and diseme) and adverbial modifier determinants are widely used in the writer’s works. Subjective – objective extenders form elementary semantic sentence structure increasing the number of participants in situations, they make the sentence semantically complete without breaking or overloading its grammatical structure.Among adverbial modifier determinants in the analyzed V. Shkliar novel semantic groups of determinant units with dimensional and time meaning are dominating, they informatively complete, define more precisely the predicate, bring additional shades into processive situation structure. Those predicates which subjects are expressed by forms of indirect cases most actively combine with optional components. The author productively uses manner of action determinants with comparison semantics. Adverbial modifier determination of purpose and reason is represented by rare examples, such extenders partially compensate absence of predicative source taking over the role of its semantics – background, source process.Thus, having analyzed subjective – objective and adverbial modifier determinants of different semantics in V. Shkliar novel we persuaded that such units are able to complete the time and dimensional «process» rather informatively without complicating sentence structure-grammatical level , emphasize or even neutralize features of dynamism, time localization, phase, inactive subject. Different meanings laying in one determinant is caused by their replication in sentence structure and leads to syncretism. Combining several meanings in one component testifies dynamic phenomena in the field of syntactical connections and relations.
