MEDIA PERIPHRASES AS A MEANS OF PRECEDENT PHENOMENA

Abstract

Until the present moment there heve been not enough researches dedicated to the usage of periphrasis as a means of precedent phenomena expression in the contemporary mass media language, that is why, the realization of the proposed scientific research makes it undoubtedly relevant.The purpose of this article is to study and analyze mass media periphrases, whose examples have been taken from the newspapers of all-Ukrainian sources of the beginning of the ХХІ century and systemize them according to the genetic characteristics.The article is targeted towards the realization of the following practical tasks: determine the most characteristic spheres of periphrastic origins for each type of precedent phenomena and specify the level of precedence of these mental formations.The main spheres of production of the new internal form of the mass media periphrases have been the folklore literature, classical fine literature and the worldwide cinematography interacting all together due to constant literary adaptation. Not only chrematonyms are susceptible to associative recoding but also the names of literary characters and quotations taken from the artistic works. Both semantic and occasional periphrases, abounding with important information from the cultural point of view are being oriented towards cultural and specific knowledge of the receiver of universal and national precedent nature. The forthcoming research purpose is to carry out a thorough study of the separate precedent names, texts, expressions and situations in the framework of linguostylistic and pragmatic aspects.
