EXPRESSIVE LEXICY AS A ACTIVITY FOR IMPROVEMENT OF PUBLICISM TEXT (ON THE MATERIAL OF PUBLICATIONS OF UKRAINIAN WEEK)
Abstract
The article addresses the problems of strengthening means of expression in the media, including expressive vocabulary in journalistic texts. Authors sustainably aim to define key features of expressive vocabulary in media and explore the ways to enhance the reader’s attention with its help. For this purpose, authors have analyzed materials of the popular national publication – «The Ukrainian week» magazine. Journalists and editors of the investigated weekly magazine enrich the rules of logical proofs by the means of artistic expression, mainly satirical ones. Metaphorized vocabulary is the most expressive means of creation of publicist text, which might change the emotional and psychological state of the reader, enrich his knowledge, system assessments and opinions. In particular, the authors actively use metonymy, trope, which is based on the replacement of some other names on the ground of contiguity of their meaning. Using of figurative epithets is inexhaustible source of emotional impact on the reader. Sometimes the role of epithets can be played by predicative constructions, providing text with bright emotionally expressed shade, and making the reader become an accomplice of the events described. In precise, full of deep meaning headlines, one can always feel political topicality, in order to intrigue the reader, to encourage him to read the text. In the authors’ opinion, expressive vocabulary allows journalists to expand the boundaries of publicist style in the media, suggest a bright palette of language and skillfully convey the problems of modern society. With the help of expressive vocabulary, authors of journal publications implement that the hidden and deep in the word, increasing the expressive capabilities of their own language.Downloads
